………ROCCUCCI: STABLE LEADERSHIP FOR DIFFICULT TIMES

Published: Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008
…………..With two solid incumbents in the race, it's tempting to endorse a relative newcomer for the third Roseville seat. But there's no getting around the fact that one of the remaining four, Pauline Roccucci, would bring a wealth of valuable experience to the council at just the right time.
Roccucci, who served on the council from 1989 to 1998 and was mayor for two years, has expertise in water and land-use planning, as well as managing a municipal budget during a recession. While some voters may wonder about extending the Roccucci regime (Pauline's husband, Richard Roccucci, is stepping down from the council this year), this registered nurse could hardly be described as power-hungry. Compared with other candidates in the race, she wants to be careful with Roseville's future growth. That would balance nicely with the more pro-development views of Allard and Garcia.
In coming years, Roseville will need good tenders to keep the bloom on the rose. Allard, Garcia and Roccucci are the best choices.

These days city governments all over California are grimly facing higher costs for public services at the same time they’re coping with thinner budgets.  The best help and advice those cities can get will come from their most experienced local leaders who’ve already dealt with such challenges successfully in the past.  That’s why, as a Sun City Roseville resident, I’m delighted to see the name Pauline Roccucci as a candidate for Roseville City Council. Those with a good memory will recall how, years ago, both as Council Member and Mayor, Pauline skillfully guided Roseville through some lean budgets and financially trying times, while simultaneously protecting Roseville’s quality of life. In recent years Pauline’s husband, Richard, as a City Council member gained his own reputation as ‘statesmanlike’ in doing the same. As he steps down from the Council, Pauline has, once again said she is willing to pick up the gauntlet. With
Pauline Roccucci back on the Council, Roseville residents can take heart in knowing they’ll have a seasoned leader there who can stare a mean budget in the face and say, “Been there, done that, ready to tackle it again!” She deserves a return engagement.

Sincerely,
Frank Hopkins

Council candidates have different views on issues
……A lifelong resident of Roseville, Pauline Roccucci said she feels her past city government experience and fiscally conservative approach to politics will help to maintain Roseville’s sustainability and vitality in the region.
Roccucci’s priorities include maintaining the city’s safety record and the low costs and reliable utilities and services Roseville residents have come to expect. She is interested in providing more opportunities for alternative transportation options such as public transit, bicycling and walking in order to make Roseville a more pedestrian-friendly city.
“My passion is having good water, electricity and a healthy community,” Roccucci said. “I’m interested in how things affect people.”
She said her career as a nurse for 40 years has taught her how to listen to concerns of people.
“I’ve learned from people,” she said. “I’m here to serve the community.”
During her past tenure as mayor and councilwoman, Roccucci said she was heavily involved in the city’s planning process. Although no specific plan for any community is set in stone, Roccucci said keeping with original guidelines is important.
“The people will always know where I stand,” she said. “People can trust what I say is what will happen.”
